UNdlunkulu uLozikheyi wagcina eqoqe bonke oNdlunkulu beSilo uLobhengula wayobakhela umuzi buqamama nalapho sekuyidolobha laseNyathi khona . Lowo muzi wawubiza ngokuthi kukwaNkosikazi ngoba kwabe kungumuzi wamakhosikazi . Kulawo makhosikazi singabala oMpoliyana , Xhwalile kanye nabanye. Indawo eyayakhe lowo muzi namanje isabizwa ngokuthi kukwaNkosikazi.

HISTORY ABOUT QUEEN LOZIKHEYI DLODLO

Queen Lozikheyi Dlodlo was one of King Lobhengula’s wives. It is unclear what year she was born but she died in 1919. Her father was Ngogo Dlodlo. Queen Lozikheyi had a twin brother by the name of Muntuwani Dlodlo. Queen Lozikheyi was left to rule the nation of Mthwakazi after the disappearance of King Lobhengula in 1893. King Lobhengula disappeared after aBathwakazi Nation were defeated by the English of Rhodes John Rhodes at eGadade. Its unknown where King Lobhengula went but there some say he went to present day Zambia .

Queen Lozikheyi was also an i’Nyanga” She was said to have come to Bulawayo(King Lobhengula’s Palace) to do some traditional job but she ended up marrying the King . King Lobhengula disappeared in 1893 after the battle of Gadade. After the disappearance of the King, Queen Lozikheyi led the BaThwakazi Nation as Prince Njube the eldest son of King Lobhengula was still a minor. But Prince Njube did not rule because he was eventually adopted by the English together with his other young brothers Ngubuyenja and Sidojiwa. There were all taken to Cape Town just to make sure that the Khumalo Kingdom was destroyed.

In 1896 another war broke out , it was called the Anglo Matebele War or the War of an Axe. In that war the Mthwakazi Nation rebelled against the English and attacked them . It was a war of revenge . The ABathwakazi regiments were led by Queen Lozikheyi herself alongside Prince Nyamande son of King Lobhengula. Queen Lozikheyi was using an axe yo fight , that is why the war was called Impi yeHloka which translate “The war of an Axe” . The two sides fought up until Cecil John Rhodes raised a white cloth which symbolized peace in those days.The red cloth symbolized war.

After the war Queen Lozikheyi gathered all King Lobhengula’s Wives and built them a Palace which she named kwaNkosikazi which translate The Queens Home in English. It was situated in present day eNyathi Mission

There were many heroes in the Dlodlo Clan. Some of the heroes were Somabulane and Mngandane Dlodlo. Somabulane was iNduna of eNsingweni. Mngandane was the iNduna of INxazonke Regiment. This regiment was earlier led by Nyathela son of Khanyi Mazibuko. Then, after his assassination at Ntabazinduna iNxazonke was led by Mgandane son of Loyiswayo Dlodlo. Mgandane died in Fort Victoria present day Masvingo. He was killed by the English while he was demanding cattle that were stolen by the English . King Lobhengula became about what the English did to Mgandane. Mgandane’s death was followed by three wars. Those wars were as follows. The Battle of Shangane River, The Battle of Lalaphansi and The Battle of Gadade.

There is a school named after Queen Lozikheyi in the Mzilikazi , Bulawayo. The school is ” Queen Lozikheyi Primary School”
